Hello everyone,

As you all know most things come to an end eventually. School ends in a matter of days now, which means that this blog is too. Here are some of the really cool things I did this year:

This year many great things have happened to me but this one will be a life long memory. For  a three days in May my class and I went to Tribune Bay Outdoor Education Center.  There was so many amazing activites and skills that I did and learned. I think that the experience that I will remember the most will be doing the high rope course. It start with a really high rope that goes up to a really large log which they call the possum log. Then once you have crawled across the log the hang upside, once you feel ready you let go and the instructor belays you down. Have you every been to Tribune Bay Outdoor Education Center? If you haven’t you should go it is a life time experience.

Once again with having such great teachers they planned another field to a place called Try a Trade. This was a great experience that makes me think of something that I could do in the future. Some of the things that I did there were pluming, drywall, painting, carpentry ect. The people there are students that are current in grade 10,11, and 12 and know a lot about what they are interested in. Now once again if you ever get the opportunity you should really go there.

Now this is the end. I hope that you all enjoyed reading my post and all of my past posts as well. Have a nice Summer

Thanks a lot,

Abby

Chapter 2

Posted on

Hello everyone,

Recently I have been writing a mini series so here is chapter 2,

Aguadulce
Juan Mercader via Compfight

My head swarming with thoughts but all I can think of is if my life will ever be like it was 2 hours ago. Tears start to fall from my face and splash onto the ground, after all of the tears left my eyes I made my way down to the water. Right now the water is the only thing that I can depend on and know that it is real everything else seems like a dream. As the wind is pushing my hair to the sky I see my Father already phoning a moving truck for tomorrow. He thinks that the sooner we move the sooner he will find a job.  I make my way to the kitchen to make a cup of tea and go read my book in my room for the last time. My eyes start to drift of into a deep sleep until I hear the moving truck clunking down the road. Then before I knew it all of our belongings were packed up and there I am sitting in the back of our mini van, but right before we start to leave I look at the ocean and see something floating in the water! I break out of the van and run as fast as I can to the beach and pick up the object and look at it and the when I thought that all things were going bad this may be hope!

I hope that you enjoyed Chapter 2! Chapter 3 soon to come! Thanks for reading,

Chapter 1

Hello Everyone,

Lines of devotion Peter Thoeny – Quality HDR Photography via Compfight

I have recently been writing a mini series I would recommend reading my intro before this chapter hope you enjoy,

I take small steps towards my parents and sit down beside them ” Honey I just got laid off and your grandmother is very sick in the hospital. We are going to have to move to Los Angels to help support her and I’ll try to find a new job there. Once I heard the words leave my fathers mouth my heart sunk with rapid thoughts. My thoughts we not about moving, they were about leaving the beach and thinking about my grandmother. I had so many thoughts that only thing that I could do was go to the beach and and think this all through. Once all of my thoughts were together,  I made  my way to the house and I see my parents are still on the couch in shock, all I can do is run up to my room and cry until all my tears are gone my tears run onto my mouth and I taste the salty taste and then it makes me think of the beach and then I start to cry even more. ” Hazel it’s mom, can we talk? ” I reply with”okay” Mom starts talking “I know that  this is going to be hard but in the end it will all be okay, you never know you might meet some friends at your new school I have to go and talk to your brother, bye . ” WHAT you mean I am going to school?”

I hope that you enjoyed chapter 1 more to come and thanks for reading,

Hazel Mini Series!

Hello Everyone,

Beach Sunset Christian via Compfight

I keep on wanted to write a mini series so here it goes,

I sat on my bed thinking of the world around me,  like when the waves crash on my feet and when the wind make my hair fly, or when you walk on the old board walk and the wood cracks from under you. I think a lot about lots of things but my mind always pulls me towards the beach. My name is Hazel. I love when the sun beams on my face and makes my hair glow!  I love a lot of things in the world but living on the beach is the best thing that I could ever ask for. I have lived here for my whole life. When I was little I always thought that sand was made of  magic! My family is amazing I have two brothers and my mom and dad and we are home schooled and my dad currently works as a marine biologist  and studies the beach.  Everything was so perfect until I walked inside the house and my parents look stunned sitting on the couch. all I could see was my dad clasping him cellphone with fear in his eyes.

I hope that you enjoyed the intro of my mini series Hazel, there will plenty more to come, thanks so much for reading,

Me And My Shadow Art!

Posted on

Hello Everyone,

Abby Art Shadow ( fixed)

For the past few weeks we have been doing an art project called me and my shadow! We haven’t been just  been learning about Shadows but we have also been learning about the value of art and the different way to do shading! Are you ready to read about some really awesome art work? If you are I would continue reading!

In my picture the pose that I am doing is thinking about being a famous soccer player which means that my shadow is a soccer player . I chose to do myself as a famous soccer player because I have always wanted to be one so I thought that I should show my love for soccer in a form of art!

To be able to make this art piece you need to follow a criteria of the steps to make it. Step number 1, you will need to grab a piece of white paper and measure a 10-Cm line up from the bottom of the page. Step number 2, then on a separate piece of paper draw what you want your shadow to be, once you have finished that step you can start to draw your shadow onto your good copy sheet, make sure that the bottom of your shadow is on the line that you drew on step one! Step number 3, you need to take a photo of your self  and upload it to your computer then print it out black and white. Once you have you picture ready you can glue it onto your good copy. Step number 4,  You need to start connecting your shadow to your picture of yourself, to do this step you will need to take the top of your foot from your picture and connect it to the top of the shadow’s foot. Once you have connected all of the shadow lines you are ready for step number 5. In Step number 5 you can start to draw your background. In My background I chose to do brick but in your picture you can chose to do really any background that you want. For this art piece I used a lot of  technique’s but the one that I used the most was crosshatching. Crosshatching is a shading technique that is done by doing diagonal lines until you have a dark colour. I thought that my art piece had a lot of value! I got this value but doing different techniques of shading.

I really like my art work and I thought that it turned our really well,   I achieved a lot that I had planned and I really like how the shading turned out. I think that I would have done a few things differently such as made my bricks a little more real looking and everything else I thought I did well, well making this I learned  a lot and different  ways to do art other than paint. Once  I finished my art  I thought of all the successful learner traits that I used, the successful learner traits that I thought I used the most would have to be confidence and a thinker! I thought that I used confidence a lot because I had to know what I was doing and not be worrying about not knowing what to do. I also thought that I used Thinker because I had to think of ways to do my shading to make my art look really effective.

I really like me art but I truly believe that you can always learn from  art so I would love to hear your feedback and things that you thought that I did well and things that I could improve on.  I hope that you liked my post and I would love to hear your feedback thanks,

Early Human Ancestor!

Hello everyone,

Hominid_Skull_Set_Homo_Neanderthalensis_LaChapelle-aux-Saints_010.jpg

NCSSM via Compfight

Recently in class we have been learning about our Human ancestors! For this post I am going to telling you about the Homo Neanderthals for the perspective that I was one, here are three good reasons what would want to be one.

Reasons why I would rather be a Neanderthal other than a Australopithecus, Homo Hablis and a Homo Erectus because the Neanderthals were the best ancestor to build shelters, three benefits of being able to build shelters would be, Have a safe dry and somewhat comfortable place to sleep, being able to have a place to keep all of the food that they have gathered and last because you would have a place to live and not always be wondering if they would have a place safe to be for the night.

Another reason that I would want to be one  because  they are the strongest of the four human ancestor that we have had! Benefits of being so strong would be being able to make a really good shelter, being able to go up against larger animals for food,  and last if you were in a situation that you would have to be in cold you would have more muscles and meat on your bones to help you survive.

The last reason I would what to be a Neanderthals because they were the first ones to be able to have a language, benefits of having a language would be if you were in trouble and you would have to call for help there is a higher chance that you would survive, another  reason that having a language would be a HUGE benefit would be having commutation with your family and understanding what they wanted you to do! The last reason that being able to speak would he a huge advanced would be if you were hunting and if an animal was right on your friends back you could warn them and they would have a better chance of living.

I hope that you enjoyed my post and leaned some huge benefits that Neanderthals had, if you were a Neanderthal which huge advanced would you want to have? I hope that you enjoyed my post and there will be more to come!

Thanks,

Charlie Brown Christmas

Posted on

Hello everyone,

Recently in class watched the Charlie Brown Christmas! When I was watching the show I was wondering how many years since the Charlie Brown movie first came out. So it turns out that it is the 50th year! Isn’t  that so cool! I also found out today that Charlie Brown started because of Cocoa cola thought that they should. For this post I am going to write about the scene where Charlie Brown’s friends come and see the tree that he had got, now here we go,

This is my favorite part of the movie. I love it so much because all of his friends relize what a great person Charlie Brown is and all make him so thankful. I also really like the part when they come and decorate the tree and make it look so amazing that Charlie Brown’s eyes pop right out of his head!( the do not really)

Here are some fun facts about the movie:

  1. This year is the 50th year since the movie first came out
  2. Cocoa cola was the company that wanted them to make the movie
  3. Most of the voices were kids.
  4. Some of the child actors were so young that they did not know how to read.

What is your favorite part of the Charlie Brown movie? If you have never watched the show before you should really watch it. I hope that you enjoyed my post and will  leave your blog URL bellow, thanks a lot,

-Abby

My New Favorite Books!

Reading is one of my favorite things to do. When I first started blogging I wrote a post on the books that I enjoyed reading but now I have read so many books since then so now I am going to write about them. Here we go,

I really enjoyed reading Searching for Sky by Jillian Cantor, here is the summary for the book:  Sky and River have lived on island for as long as they can remember. They hunt for food in ocean, swim in falls, and curl up at night in shelter. There life together in this beautiful world is simple and safe. Until River sees a boat… Across ocean  in a place called California, nothing makes sense to Sky. Separated from River and taken to live with a grandmother that doesn’t even know, Sky wants desperately to find River and return to island. But when sky learns that their paradise wasn’t as perfect as she thought, and everything that she has ever know and loved may have been a lie, she realizes that her search for the truth is just beginning, this is a gripping story of love and survival, readers will be swept away by Sky’s remarkable journey thought a hostile world: ours. She has also write some other really famous books including, The Hours Count and Margot. If you have the chance I would recommend reading some of her books especially Searching for Sky!

The next book that I really enjoyed reading was The Princess Diaries  by Meg Cabot. Here is the summary of the book: Mia Theropolis is pretty sure there’s nothing worse than being a five-foot-nine freshman, who also happens to be flunking algebra. Is she ever in for a surprise. First Mom announces that she is dating Mia’s Algebra teacher. Then Dad has to go and reveal  that he is the crown prince of Genovia. And guess who still doesn’t have a date for the Cultural Diversity Dance?   I really enjoyed reading this book because there is a movie based on it and the author is has some really good books. One of the other series that I have read by her is Allie Finkel’s Rules for Girls, If you have the chance you should read both of the series.

The last book that I am actually reading right now is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. So far I am really enjoying reading this book here is the summary: In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shinning Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing then all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sisters place in the Games.  But Katniss has been so close to death before and survival, for her, it is second nature.Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.  So far I am loving this book so I  think that you should read it! some of her other famous books that she wrought are the year in the jungle and Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane.

I hope that you liked my post and will read some of these books! ( please do not give away The Hunger Games for me in your comments!) Thanks a lot,

-Abby
